Yes, that worked. Although I don't plan on using it for my compositions, it would be helpful if I can play existing midi files without having to manually reassign every track to a Presence soundset instrument. Another major issue I have with S1 is, as I have mentioned before, it locks up the sound chip, and I am not able to get any audio output from other applications while S1 is open.
I checked the Windows audio mixer and the volume settings of the other applications are still normal. Don't know if others also have run into this. Try this setting In Preferences.. I had to switch it back to Channel 1 to get it to play. Then drag the midi events on to the Instrument track. Our alternatively, you can route the output of the midi track to GS Wavetable as Tom suggested. My experience is that the GS wavetable is plagued with poor latency ie a long time between the note in the midi file and when you actually hear it.
