Source engine hack

There has been some talk of another source engine malware hack thing, Is tf2 safe from this? Or is it not? Hack-hunting group Secret Club have revealed multiple exploits affecting Source Engine games like CS:GO , which could allow hackers to steal player data via Steam invites and community servers.

They claim they reported one of these exploits to Valve two years ago, but not only are the company yet to patch it, but they allegedly prevented Secret Club from publicly disclosing the information too. Secret Club are a not-for-profit reverse engineering group who've found a number of exploits with Valve's software, which they explain in a series of posts on Twitter. Each of these exploits are remote code execution flaws, which Secret Club told me via email gives a hacker "full control over the victim's system, which can be used to steal passwords, banking information, and more.

It can be triggered through a Steam invite. This has yet to be patched, and Valve is preventing us from publicly disclosing it. Two more posts here and here show a type of the remote execution exploit working in CS:GO. Verification needed. Subnautica - Again, unsure if this was on Source at any point during development. Fortunately, you can do this from within Steam settings. Find the Source game you want to use. Right-click the game. A drop-down menu will appear. If your mouse doesn't have a right-click button, click the right side of the mouse, or use two fingers to click the mouse. If your computer uses a trackpad instead of a mouse, use two fingers to tap the trackpad or press the bottom-right side of the trackpad.

On a Mac, you can Control -click the game's name. Click Properties. It's in the drop-down menu. Doing so opens a new window. You'll find this option near the middle of the window.

Enter the "enable console" command. In the pop-up window which appears, type -console into the text box, then click OK. Start the game. Once the game loads, you should see the console window appear somewhere on the game's screen. Bind a key to the console function. From that point on, you'll be able to use your selected key to open the console in-game.

For example, to bind the console function to the "K" key, you would type in bind "K" "toggleconsole" here. Include your email address to get a message when this question is answered. Always remember to disable cheats before saving and exiting your game.
