Windows live mail toolbar icons missing

Each toolbar contains large graphical icons grouped by functionality. From the Menu Bar select View-Toolbars and turn the missing toolbars back on. I think that if you can open a 'write' window where you compose an email and right-click at the top, just below the window title, you should get a menu that allows you to reinstate the tool bar.

I've tried that but the only options the pop up menue allowed were: restore greyed out , move, size, minimize, maximize - unfortunately, none of them restored the e-mail toolbar.
